Escucha ‘Génesis’ la nueva canción de Deftones

A una semana de que se libere el octavo disco de estudio de Deftones, la banda comparte un nuevo adelanto “Genesis”, una pieza que combina la hipnótica voz de Chino Moreno y un denso riff principal de Stephen Carpenter.

A principios de septiembre, los de Sacramento dieron a conocer la portada, nombre y fecha de lanzamiento de “Ohms”, acompañado de una canción homónima al disco. La canción fue bien recibida en términos generales por crítica y fans, sin embargo por ahí se pedían más guitarrazos de Carpenter, comentarios que en diversas entrevistas tanto Moreno como el baterista Abe Cunningham señalaban que la siguiente melodía tendría un corte más pesado.

Así pues llega “Genesis”, canción violenta con lapsos lentos, siniestros pero sobre todo atmosféricos.

“Todos se juntan, nos encerramos en una habitación y escribimos juntos, lo cual creo que es la parte importante, que no solo estamos enviando ideas por Internet”, explicó Moreno recientemente a Zane Lowe de Apple Music. “De hecho, estamos escribiendo música juntos. Pero una vez que hacemos eso, todos se alejan y regresan a sus propios pequeños mundos, y luego hacemos un recuento de qué es esto y qué es aquello y luego podemos trabajar de esa manera. Así que nos ha funcionado”.

Ohms se grabó en Henson Studios en Los Ángeles y Trainwreck Studios en Woodinville, Washington, reuniendo a la banda con el productor Terry Date.
